The Fitness Clinic of Indianapolis was founded in 1997 by Doug and Teresa Ruff. In December of 2009, Doug and Teresa extended a Spring internship with Sam Woodworth while he was studying Exercise Science at Ball State University to staff their St. Vincent Hospital employee fitness center in Carmel. In the Summer of 2010, Sam joined FCI as an intern and founded his own personal training business, Woodworth Wellness, in the spring of 2011.
After the unfortunate passing of Doug Ruff, Teresa took over the clinic and eventually sold the business to Doug’s long-time friend and personal trainer, Art Brock. After several contractions and expansions of the Fitness Clinic team, a core nucleus remains intact… Sam, Teresa, and Art. In 2022, Sam took ownership with Teresa and Art right beside him.
The Fitness Clinic was designed to be an educational and collaborative hub for exercise science and related disciplines. The Fitness Clinic runs on exercise, movement quality, and overall exercise prescription. Expect an updated look, feel, and overall aesthetic of each unique training space within the Clinic, as well as acknowledgment of the history of the Fitness Clinic, both in the personal trainers and loyal clientele that have enabled this unique facility to thrive on the north side of Indianapolis for 25 years.
